Where were you at midnight last New Year’s Eve? According to the recent survey results from Orderella, 37% of people were still queuing at a bar – and this long awaited app intends to change that this year.
Orderella is an ordering and payment platform for ordering drinks straight from your Android or IOS device, without even getting up from your seat. Now in over 60 bars across the UK and 16 bars in Ireland, the app is growing at a steady pace with a US launch sure to be on the cards also. Once you’re in an Orderella location, you can simply ‘check in’ on your phone to browse their menu and place your order; you can then keep track of your order status and have it delivered straight to your table! Given that the majority of people have their phones out almost 24/7 on a night out, this service is bound to have a mass appeal.
Dennis Collet, the founder of Orderella, has a strong business and finance background which has proved invaluable in the launch of this new app. Founded just two years ago in August 2012, Orderella has moved quickly since its initial UK test launch in May 2013. However, there have been a few glitches following the Irish launch and customers have vented their frustrations in the app store, with one customer stating ‘…Used it at Web summit after all hearing the hype and found it cumbersome. Thought the 12.5% tip on top of the price of the drink was very cheeky. Crashed on me during an order! Disappointed overall’.
However, as with any start up – there are bound to be a few issues and hopefully things will improve after the initial roll out phase. The concept is fantastic, there is a need for it and a want for it…but it needs to work seamlessly in order for people to buy into it, especially since the point of the app itself is to create a stress free experience.
