Everyone knows LinkedIn is an unrivaled source when you’re trying to land a job or even look for a standout employee. However, LinkedIn can be used for far more than just that. If you run an eCommerce website, you can use LinkedIn to actually help your company in ways that will truly turn a profit.
Obviously, you’ll want to start by creating a company page. This is easy enough. What takes a little more thinking is treating it like an actual webpage and not a throwaway account on social media.
Use your LinkedIn business page to tell members what your company is about and whom it aims to serve. This shouldn’t be vague either. Literally list the products and/or services your eCommerce company provides.
Throw in keywords too, just as you would do in any other SEO situation. Google will look at the first 156 characters you provide so be sure to use these wisely. Also, you can link to your company website from here too as well as other social media accounts. Take advantage of this.
When it’s appropriate, have customers recommend your company on LinkedIn. This is a great form of marketing and it’s free too. Don’t spam people for it though. Wait until after a sale or incentivize it.
One really cool aspect LinkedIn only recently added to their business pages is that you can now share information with your followers as a company. Before you could only do this as an individual. So take the time to craft thoughtful pieces that will either provide free and useful information or sell people on your company. Obviously, do the latter sparingly or people will disconnect.
The best part about sharing this information is that you can target certain followers or send it to all of them. So if you have one product that you know would be great for some of your followers, but not others, you can ensure only the right demographic sees it. Tailoring messages like this will lead to higher conversions and less people getting overwhelmed with irrelevant messages and disconnecting from you.
Lastly, be sure you include a follow button on your eCommerce website. This makes it easy for people who like your company to connect with it too.
Unlike other forms of social media, LinkedIn exists solely for business purposes. So if your eCommerce company doesn’t have a presence on the website, you’re missing out on an excellent opportunity.
