Loyalty Breeds Loyalty – Don’t Forget To Say Thank You This Year
I’m going to break a cardinal rule here and ‘assume’ (to assume makes an ass out of you and me) that you have a marketing budget; following that, I’m going to assume you have some extra spend left in your pocket.
Still with me? I guess you do then! Great!… Read the full article
Amazon Reveals New ‘Make An Offer’ Feature
Have you ever been to a market? A real life one? Most people have, and many people enjoy a good old bartering exchange whilst they’re there. I still remember haggling on the price of a goldfish when I was 8 years old; I got it down to half price with a free bowl thrown in and I thought I was deadly. Turns out I actually was ‘deadly’ – since I overfed it and it died.
Anyway, moving swiftly back to 2015 (where’s that DeLorean when you need it?),… Read the full article
Major Alibaba Security Flaw Put Merchants In Danger
A security flaw in Alibaba’s international e-commerce site which put merchants at serious risk has been identified by an Israeli security firm. Alibaba’s growing English language site ‘AliExpress’ serves a number of foreign markets including the US, Russia and Brazil; however in late October, research from AppSec Labs found a vulnerability allowing for the hijacking of merchant accounts.
According to AppSec founder Erez Metula, the potential security breach would have allowed the attacker to change inventory lists, pricing and even close the merchants account. In an interview on Wednesday, Erez added that ‘they could change the price from a couple hundred dollars to one dollar, and so the bad guy could buy the product cheap.’… Read the full article
Amazon Threaten To Take Drone Testing Abroad Following FAA Frustration
Around this time last year, Amazon unveiled its delivery drone prototypes in this 60 minute interview with Jeff Bezos, and the launch of ‘Amazon Prime Air’ was anticipated within 4-5 years. However, over the past year, the company has become increasingly frustrated with the Federal Aviation Association’s hesitance to approve commercial drones.
Amazon’s vice president of global public policy, Paul Misener, wrote to the FAA this weekend and issued an ultimatum – stating that unless Amazon is granted permission to test fly its drones, the innovative firm will continue its research and development elsewhere…. Read the full article

Mobile eCommerce Traffic Peaks On Sundays
Sunday is the most popular day for Mobile Shoppers in the US and Friday generates the least traffic, according a recent study by Opera Media Works. The firm says that ‘Unlike desktop traffic to e-commerce sites, which tends to peak on Mondays and remains stronger during weekdays than on weekends, mobile shopping traffic is highly concentrated on Sundays’. Opera further noted that ‘one possible explanation is that many consumers use their mobile devices to browse products over the weekend, then revisit and purchase when they return to their desks on Monday. The day with the lowest mobile shopping traffic is Friday.’
In the report conducted between November 2013 and October 2014, Amazon lead the way with a 36.3% U.S. market share, followed by eBay at 16%. Larry Moores, Vice President for Consumer Mobile Reporting and Analytics at Opera, says that ‘online shopping has become a major force in global markets. And, with the holiday shopping season upon us in the United States, we see mobile’s share of that market accelerating.’… Read the full article
The Hootsuite Vs Buffer Debate
One of the most ongoing debates in social media history circles around these two management tools, but the online community remains divided on which provides the best service. Amadeus Tackles Flight Delay Issues With New Mobile Solution
Ever had to spend a night in an airport due to a delayed flight? Or stood in queue at a Ryanair desk for an hour, simply to be told they can’t actually help you at all? Frustrating, isn’t it?! You’re certainly not alone. In fact, the 2013 white paper, ‘Passengers-first: re-thinking irregular operations’ showed that 33% of passengers are frustrated with insufficient real-time information.
The good news is that technology solutions company, Amadeus, has created a solution! The company’s latest mobile product, Amadeus Personal Disruption Companion, was announced earlier this month at the PhoCusWright’s Travel Innovation Summit where it came runner up in the Established Companies awards. This solution means that customers no longer have to stand in queue to speak to an airline agent, or make a call at the airport (where they’re inevitably put on hold and charged ridiculously roaming charges… I’m not bitter, honest!). Instead, travelers can instantly access a range of alternative travel options on their mobile device with personalized recommendations available at the tap of a touch screen. These recommendations are based on factors such as the travelers purchase history, preferences, location and language etc…. Read the full article
